FAQs

Why choose vegan & cruelty free?

Vegan and cruelty free products aren’t just for vegans! They’re for people who believe in an ethical future. They’re for anyone who believes that they can change the world with every dollar they spend. They’re for people who don’t want to cause harm or suffering to another living being.

How are some beauty products not cruelty free?

Cruelty-free in beauty products refers to animal testing. Many beauty companies test either their finished products, or the ingredients in the products on animals.

How are some beauty products not vegan?

A surprising number of animal-based ingredients can be found in beauty products, which meant they aren’t considered vegan. A list of common non vegan ingredients are listed below.

Which common beauty ingredients aren't vegan?

There's a long list of ingredients commonly used in beauty products that are derived from animal sources.

Some common ones are:

Carmine which is used in products such as lipsticks and blushes to create a red pigment. It's made from crushed carmine beetles.

Shellac, a resinous ingredient, often used in nail and hair products, which is made from lac bugs.

Lanolin is a fatty extract from wool and is often used in lip products and skincare.

Beeswax is excreted from the abdomen of female worker bees. It's secreted by bees when it's time to build their hives.

There many, many more and luckily the team at Futurist Beauty are here to do the research and ensure you're only buying products that have no animal ingredients at all.
